Event Title: Head ‘Em Up & Move ‘Em Out- A First Thursday Presentation
Date:April 2, 2015
Time:5:30-6:30 pm
Location:Smoky Hill Museum, 211 W. Iron, Salina, KS 67401
Admission:Free

Join author Jim Gray for an exciting story of cowboys, cattle, and the steak on your plate at the Smoky Hill Museum’s First Thursday program, April 2 from 5:30-6:30 pm. Jim will also share about how Ellsworth and Salina fit into the cattle drive in his talk Head ‘Em Up & Move ‘Em Out.

It took stamina and determination to be a cowboy during the early days of ranching and trail driving. A drover might deal with lightning, hail, tornadoes, stampedes, floods and more, to get his wild cattle to market.

Jim is the executive director of the National Drovers Hall of Fame, a promoter of cowboy heritage in Kansas and the author of Desperate Seed: Ellsworth, Kansas on the Violent Frontier.

The Smoky Hill Museum is a nationally accredited history museum, in the heart of downtown Salina, Kansas. This FREE museum is open Tuesday-Friday 12-6, Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 1-5. Also, be sure to stop by the Museum Store for a wide variety of regional and Kansas products, local artwork and gifts for all ages.

For needed accommodations, please call Nona Miller at 309-5776 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Every effort will be made to accommodate known disabilities. For material or speech access, please call at least 5 working days prior to the event.
