The Salina Fire Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Josh Foley to the position of fire lieutenant (Lt.)/emergency medical technician (EMT).
Lt. Foley joined the Salina Fire Department in June of 1999 as a firefighter/EMT. After a brief departure, he returned in January 2005. Lt. Foley was promoted to fire engineer/EMT in September 2008. He has served as an adjunct instructor for the Kansas University Fire and Rescue Training Institute, and was the co-instructor and lead instructor of the driver/operator class at the Salina Fire Department for four years. Since 2009, Lt. Foley has served as the Chairman of the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG) Committee.
In his new position, Lt. Foley functions as a company level officer and is responsible for the supervision of personnel assigned to his apparatus. His duties include training his crew, fire prevention activities, fire suppression, and emergency medical service (EMS) delivery to meet the department’s mission-“Respond quickly, perform professionally, be caring and compassionate to all, and finally, everyone goes home.”
