National Public Works Week Honors the Men & Women of the Profession Who Are Always There

In accordance with the traditions of the American Public Works Association, those who work in professions that provide and maintain public facilities and services will be honored this week during National Public Works Week.

The 2016 National Public Works Week theme, "Public Works Always There," highlights that communities depend on public works, and that employees of the profession are always there and always ready.

Jim Teutsch, Operations Manager for the Public Works Department, said, “Our objective in commemorating this week is to increase the public’s awareness of the outstanding contributions made every day by all of the hardworking men and women of the City of Salina Public Works Department,  and to express our renewed commitment to providing the best possible public infrastructure for our citizens. We are extraordinarily proud of the work being accomplished by our work groups and continually strive to deliver friendly, professional and cost effective results that help make Salina a better place to visit, work and live. ”

Salina’s public works professionals include those who manage the city’s engineering projects and services, fleet, flood control levee, household hazardous waste, sanitation collection, municipal solid waste landfill, streets maintenance and repair, and traffic control systems.
