ORDINANCE NUMBER 16-10844
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION OF A CERTAIN TRACT OF LAND IN SALINE COUNTY, KANSAS IN CONFORMITY WITH THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 12-519 TO 12-526, INCLUSIVE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. Findings. The following findings support the annexation of the property described in Section 2 by the City of Salina:
- The subject property is located in the City’s Urban Service Area and is contiguous to the existing city limits on the west, north and south.
- The property owner on the east side of Ohio Street has consented to the annexation of the portion of Ohio Street abutting their property to allow the City of Salina to assume ownership and maintenance responsibility for Ohio Street.
Section 2. Annexation. The following described tract of land:
A tract of land in the North Half of Section 6, Township 15 South, Range 2 West of the 6th P.M., and the Northeast Quarter of Section 1, Township 15 South, Range 3 West of the 6th P.M. all in Saline County, Kansas, and more particularly described as follows:
A tract of land located in the Northwest Quarter of Section 6, Township 15 South, and Range 2 West of the Sixth P.M. and in the Northeast Quarter of Section 1, Township 15 South, Range 3 West of the Sixth P.M., more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at the Northwest corner of said Section 6,
Thence on the west line of said Section 6 on an assumed bearing of South 00° 35' 36" West, a distance of 1113.58 feet to the north line of a tract described in Saline County Register of Deeds Books: 1013, page 253;
Thence South 89° 31' 43" East on the north line of said tract, a distance of 40.00 feet;
Thence South 00° 35' 36" West, a distance of 412.52 feet to the south line of said tract;
Thence North 89° 29' 01" West, a distance of 90.00 feet to the west Ohio Street Right of Way line, of the Corrected Plat of Liberty Addition No. 2, an addition to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas;
Thence North 00° 36' 48" East on said west Ohio Street Right of Way line, a distance of 412.45 feet;
Thence South 89° 31' 43" East, a distance of 49.85 feet to the Point of Beginning.
Said Tract contains 0.85 acres more or less.
meeting one or more of the classifications for annexation prescribed by K.S.A. 12-519 to 12-526, inclusive, is hereby annexed and made a part of the City of Salina, Kansas.
Section 3. Repealer. That all prior ordinances in conflict herewith as they relate to the above described real estate are hereby repealed.
Section 4. Summary of ordinance for publication. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.

On July 25, 2016, the City of Salina, Kansas passed Ordinance No. 16-10844. The ordinance annexes a portion of South Ohio Street between the Ryan Addition to the City of Salina and property owned by Saline County into the city in order to establish uniform ownership and maintenance responsibility for South Ohio Street south of Schilling Road.
