FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE SET FOR SEPTEMBER 16

(Salina, KS 09-16) Salina Arts & Humanities, in collaboration with downtown stakeholders, announces the next Friday Night Live concert event on September 16th. Friday Night Live is a series of arts and entertainment programming for Salina residents and visitors designed to increase attendance and participation in arts-related events and to strengthen partnerships with local business owners in the downtown arts district.

Each week, Friday Night Live will feature music and/or poetry events in restaurants, bars, outdoor plazas and other venues. The FNL series is a combination of free-admission events sponsored by Friday Night Live and cover-charge events presented by local businesses and promoted through the Friday Night Live stakeholders.

This week, the Friday Night Live free concert features Manhattan band Funtabi.
This group is a lively indie-rock band that plays fun, fast and loud  rock ‘n’ roll that makes you want to get up, dance and throw your hands into the air. Comprised of musicians who play in multiple bands in the Manhattan scene, Funtabi’s eclectic background of musical influences from bands such as They Might Be Giants and The Mynabirds combine to create a unique and blended rock ‘n’ roll sound.

The concert is free of charge and takes place at Campbell Plaza, 123 S. Santa Fe, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Please check the Friday Night Live and Salina Arts and Humanities Facebook pages for details of possible same-day rain delays or postponements.

Also happening on September 16th as a Friday Night Live promoted event, is the Season Opener for ONE MIC at Ad Astra Books & Coffee House, 141 N. Santa Fe. The featured poet is Sweet Storm from Fort Riley with musical guest William Bloom of Wichita, as well as an open mic session for local and regional poets, spoken word and hip-hop artists.  Show time is 7 to 10p.m. Admission is $5 and you must be 16 years or older to attend.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about the rest of Friday Night Live programming for September and October. For more information, call Stacy Ash at Salina Arts & Humanities at 785-309-5770.
