4/15/2013 - Fort Hays State University Percussion Ensemble Plays Art A La Cart April 19

The season opener of the Art a la Carte concert series on Friday, April 19th, will feature The Fort Hays State Percussion Ensemble, as directed by Dean Kranzler.
“…a variety of exciting modern music, as well as an original composition by Dr. Jeff Jordan, FHSU Director of Bands” is promised for this outreach concert by Director Kranzler. The original piece features the Fort Hays Singers, under the direction of Dr. Terry Crull. The singers will also perform an additional work. The concert will conclude with a performance by the FHSU Jazz I Ensemble, under the direction of Brad Dawson. Nearly 50 outstanding college musicians will participate in the performance. All of these students were chosen to appear at the 2013 Kansas Music Educators Convention that was held in Wichita, KS, in February.

Because of the unusual length of this offering, the concert will begin at 12:15 and will end shortly after 1:00 p.m. Art a la Carte concerts are held at Campbell Plaza, in the 100 Block of south Santa Fe, in downtown Salina, from 12:20 to 12:50 weekly.

In inclement weather, performances are held at the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts, 151 S. Santa Fe.

For needed accommodations, please call Kathy Burlew at Salina Arts & Humanities at 785-309-5770 between 8:00 a.m. - Noon and 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Every effort will be made to accommodate known disabilities. For material or speech access, please call at least five working days prior to the event.
