Funding for reconstruction of Ninth/Cloud approved

The Salina City Commission on Monday voted 5-0 to approve funding for a project that will improve traffic flow at one of Salina’s most troublesome intersections, Ninth and Cloud.

The improvements are projected to cost $1.1 million, and $350,000 will be provided by the Kansas Department of Transportation. The rest will be funded through temporary notes this summer and eventually the issuance of general obligation bonds, City Finance Director Rod Franz said.

“This gets the ball rolling and makes sure we can pay the bills when they come due,” Franz told the city commission.

There was no mention at Monday’s meeting of a possible start date for the project.
