Donations being sought for air museum

Donations are being accepted for the construction of Wings Over Salina Aviation Experience, an air museum which is being planned for the Salina airport.

Salina Airport Authority Executive Director Tim Rogers briefed the Salina City Commission on the project at a Monday afternoon study session.

According to a pamphlet that was passed out at the meeting, “Wings Over Salina Aviation Experience … is designed to be not just another airplane museum but a comprehensive, interactive, interpretive center that formats and presents the history of mechanized flight and Salina’s role in that development … ”

Total construction cost is estimated at $12 million, and another $3 million is being raised to establish an endowment for operational costs. Donations are being accepted through the Greater Salina Community Foundation and are tax-deductible.
