9/9/2013 - Art a La Carte- Jazz Pianist Paul Austin Sept, 13, 2013

(Salina, KS 09-13) Paul Austin, a jazz pianist, will play for the Art a la Carte concert series on Friday, September 13th.  These free, outdoor concerts are presented by Salina Arts & Humanities.  The concerts take place at Robert Caldwell Plaza, on the commons between the City/County Building and the Salina Public Library. The half-hour performances begin at 12:20 p.m. each Friday and will conclude on October 11th.

Paul Austin is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Church Music and a master’s degree in Composition and Theory.  While at Hardin-Simmons, Austin was a recipient of the Outstanding Student Composer Award and was also named the 2004 Honors Composer.  A career Pastor of Worship, Austin is currently employed at First Covenant Church in Salina. 

In inclement weather, performances are held at the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts, 151 S. Santa Fe.
