Celebrate Kansas’ Birthday
Event Title: Kansas Day Open House
Date: February 1, 2014
Time: 1:00-3:00 pm
Location: Smoky Hill Museum, 211 W. Iron, Salina, KS 67401
It is time to celebrate Kansas’ birthday and the Smoky Hill Museum will be doing it up right. Bring the whole family and enjoy the fun at the free Kansas Day celebration, February 1, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
Try your hand at a few activities pioneers would have done, like churning butter or shelling corn. There will also be two new activities. Jack Crispin, from the Crispin Drugstore Museum, will be showing and talking about historical pharmaceutical items. Patti Fiedler will also be on hand demonstrating soap making on the prairie. Samples will be available to take with you as supplies last.
Also, enjoy the make and take crafts and birthday cake, sign up for door prizes and more. Everything’s free, at the Kansas Day Open House February 1, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
The Smoky Hill Museum is a nationally accredited history museum, in the heart of downtown Salina, Kansas. This FREE museum is open Tuesday-Friday 12-5, Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 1-5. Also, be sure to stop by the Museum Store for a wide variety of regional and Kansas products, local artwork and gifts for all ages.
For needed accommodations, please call Nona Miller at 309-5776 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Every effort will be made to accommodate known disabilities. For material or speech access, please call at least 5 working days prior to the event.
